Moraira lies on Spain's Costa Blanca, about mid-way between Calpe and Javea, and is about a 1 hour drive north of Alicante Airport and 1 and a quarter hours south of Valencia Airport. It lies at the foot of a valley whose fertile green vineyards give way to a beautiful sandy bay as they meet the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
A few years ago, Moraira was a small fishing village but since then, strong local authority planning controls have seen it grow into the perfect small holiday resort and retirement town that it is today. Recent developments have been restricted to low rise apartments and villas such that the old cliche truly applies - this is a town which really does retain much of its character and atmosphere with its narrow, colourful streets, squares and waterfront.
Over recent years, the progressive local council has been very active in constructing an excellent network of coastal walkways and parks, which have added to the natural beauty of the area.
An international marina, traditional fishing harbour and a wonderful selection of restaurants, shops and blue flag beaches make Moraira an excellent choice for a holiday.
This part of the Costa Blanca, with its numerous beaches and coves, is regarded by many as having some of the most outstanding coastal scenery in the whole of Spain. Moraira itself has several beautiful beaches whilst, within a short drive of the villa, there are further excellent beaches at Javea and Denia, coves for snorkelling, several golf courses and inland drives through glorious mountain and valley scenery.
For families with children, a 30 minute drive will take you to Benidorm with its numerous attractions including a Waterpark, Marineland, Terra Mitica Theme Park and Terra Natura Animal and Nature park.
